Access, deadlines and reminders
Assigning a course to groups and people, the kinds of deadlines, and when people get reminders.
Who gets a course
The course's “Access” tab offers two ways:
- To groups. The easiest: new group members get the course automatically, and people who leave the group lose access unless they have it another way.
- To individual people, optionally with a personal deadline.
A learning path is a third source of access. If someone gets a course several ways, access counts from the earliest, and the nearest deadline applies.
Deadlines for a group
- No deadline.
- By a date: the same for everyone.
- N days from access: everyone has their own, counted from the day they got the course (joined the group or the course was assigned). Ideal for onboarding.
Reminders
People get an email and a notification in the Spilno LMS bell:
- Course assigned, right after it's assigned.
- Deadline coming up, 3 days before (change the number of days in settings).
- Deadline passed, once, when it's past.
Automatic deadline reminders can be turned off for the organization. The “course assigned” message is always sent.
Remind by hand
The Access tab has “Remind everyone who hasn't finished” and “Remind” next to each person. So people aren't flooded with emails, each person gets at most one manual reminder per course per hour, whoever sends it: an admin or a manager.
Who has access
The “Course learners” table shows everyone with access: the source (group, learning path, individual), deadline, status and progress. The filters at the top quickly show, for example, only those overdue.
