Courses

Creating a course, adding content and a cover, previewing it as a learner.

Create a course

Courses → New course → title and description. Or from anywhere: ⌘ K → “New course”.

Structure

A course is a sequence of activities:

  • Lesson: text, images, video, files.
  • Quiz: questions that are checked automatically.
  • SCORM package: a ready-made course from another authoring tool.

Reorder them with the arrows. An activity with no content yet (an empty lesson, a quiz without questions, SCORM without a package) is marked as a draft: learners don't see it until you add content.

Delete an activity

You can delete an activity even from a course people are taking. Before you do, Spilno LMS tells you how many people already have results in it and for how many the course will then count as completed (if it was their last unfinished activity; the certificate is issued automatically). Results aren't lost: the deleted activity stays in the reports, marked “deleted”. An activity nobody has taken yet is deleted for good.

Cover

Click “Add cover” and choose an image: PNG, JPG, WebP or GIF, ideally wide. Without one, the course gets a generated colour cover with the first letter of its title.

Preview as a learner

“Preview as learner” shows the course exactly as people see it. Nothing is saved in preview: you can take the quiz or the lesson and it won't show up in reports.

When a course is complete

A course is complete when every activity that has content is done. If the course has a certificate turned on, it's issued automatically.

Delete a course

Edit → Delete course. Spilno LMS first checks whether anyone still needs the course.

  • People are still taking it. While anyone who hasn't started or finished still has the course, it can't be deleted. You'll see who has it: groups, individual people, learning paths. Click “Remove unfinished assignments” or change access on the Access tab. If the course is a step of a learning path, remove it from the path first.
  • People have completed it. The course disappears from the catalogue, assignments and learning, but the results of those who completed it stay in the reports, marked “deleted”, and issued certificates stay valid. The course's files (images, attachments, cover, SCORM packages) are deleted and free up space.
  • Nobody has taken it yet. It's deleted for good, with its activities.
“Remove unfinished assignments” only takes the course away from people who haven't finished it. If it was assigned to a group, members who already completed it keep it individually, so they stay in the reports.
